Dogeparty Foundation Meeting – 01/05/2023

The newly-elected Dogeparty Foundation kicked off 2023 with their first meeting on Thursday January 5th. A number of topics were discussed during the hour-long call, all pertaining to how to best grow Dogeparty while ensuring its longevity as a platform. Principal subjects discussed by founders and directors included the following:

  • New features to be included in updates to the Dogeparty protocol and Dogewallet
  • Timeline for rollout of updates
  • Development & implementation of a notification service for Dogeparty transactions
  • Discontinuation of the VinDAX trading pair for XDP
  • Development of a Dogeparty Virtual Machine to enable smart contract capabilities
  • Renewed social media community engagement

According to J-Dog, a full parse of all Dogeparty transactions is currently underway, which will be necessary to implement updates being made to the Dogeparty protocol and Dogewallet. This process should take 1-2 weeks, and J-Dog estimates that the protocol update will take place 1-2 weeks later, with the Dogewallet update following 1-2 weeks after that.

There are some big upgrades coming to Dogeparty in the next couple of months! A significant transaction fee reduction (from 1 to 0.01 DOGE) and bug fixes that have already been implemented in Counterparty are on their way. J-Dog is currently working on the enablement of a proxy-based service that could be used to provide notifications for incoming Dogeparty transactions. Users will be able to configure the service to trigger notifications when a new transaction affects their wallet, i.e. when a purchase is made from their dispenser, a DEX order is filled, etc.

A final discussion was carried over from the 2022 foundation and a vote was conducted among attendees concerning whether or not foundation funds should continue to be spent on maintaining the BTC/XDP trading pair listing on the VinDAX exchange. The listing is a prerequisite to having an updated coin page for Dogeparty displayed on both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko. Since both websites refuse to update their respective pages for Dogeparty without consent from the owner of the original Dogeparty website, dogeparty.io (who has been unreachable), continuing to pay VinDAX is unwarranted. The majority of attendees voted “no” and thus the trading pair will expire in the upcoming month or two.

J-Dog also announced that he and co-founder Javier V. will be exploring the possibility of creating a “virtual machine” which they feel would be a good fit for Dogeparty. This is an idea that has been regarded as feasible for Counterparty as well, since 2014. This would enable Dogeparty to have Ethereum-like smart contract capabilities, paving the way for advanced token properties, Uniswap-style token exchanges, liquidity pools, and more. Technical specifications are pending and budgetary concerns need to be discussed before moving forward with development.

A final topic of conversation centered around renewing the effort to build more community engagement through social media channels. The Dogeparty Twitter account was identified as the strongest opportunity to enhance engagement with, not only the existing community, but also the broader base of crypto-enthusiasts who may be drawn to Dogeparty. Both Nutildah and Xcer volunteered to take on the role and begin to create content more consistently for this purpose. Gmoney also highlighted an opportunity for engagement with a community on NOSTR, which is essentially a “decentralized Twitter”. This new opportunity will be explored further with possible integration of the dogeparty.net domain as a verification tool. More to come on that!
